FAQs

  • What is D-8?
Delta-8 (or D-8), which is distinct from THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) is a cannabinoid that is derived from the hemp plant. Not quite CBD and not quite marijuana, many delta-8 consumers report many of the same effects as THC. However, the compound is less potent than THC.
  • Is it legal?
According to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp derived products containing less than 0.3% THC were excepted out of the list of controlled substances. This means it is legal to use and distribute such products as long as it has THC within the allowed limits. Since Delta-8 is derived from hemp, which has negligible THC traces, it's technically legal at the federal level. Despite the signed federal rule, states have the power to control the use of Delta-8 within their jurisdictions. So it’s up to individual states to decide wether or not to allow it. While it IS legal in most states, as of now, these states have banned its use: Alaska Arizona Colorado Connecticut Delaware Hawaii Idaho Iowa Louisiana Michigan Minnesota Montana Nevada New York North Dakota Oregon Rhode Island Utah Vermont Virginia Washington For these reasons, Sugar Buzz Sprinkle Co. cannot and will not ship to these states. We also do not ship outside of the USA. However, for those who live in states where THC/marijuana is still illegal, D-8 may remain a legal alternative.
  • How fast will it take effect?
How quickly you’ll feel the effects of d-8 will vary from person to person but may include such factors as: body weight metabolism tolerance (whether or not you’re accustomed to other cannabinoids) full or empty stomach method of delivery: sublingual or dissolved by mouth (faster absorption) On average, delta-8 can take as little as 15-20 minutes to take effect (sublingually) or 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to feel the effects when ingested. It can take as long as 2 hours or more to feel the FULL effects, so use caution before consuming more product once you have consumed it.
  • How long do the effects last?
Once again, this will vary from person to person for a number of factors, such as rate of metabolism etc. Ingested edibles, such as sprinkles on baked goods, which need to be eaten in order for the body to break them down, may stay in the system longer than products which are meant to be dissolved by mouth (and thereby partially absorbed by the mucous membranes in the mouth) So, roughly: Ingested (or eaten) edibles (like our sprinkles) may have effects that last for on average around 3-4 hours, possibly longer. Edibles dissolved by mouth (like our Stingers) may take effect in approximately 15-20 minutes, but wear off about 1-2 hours sooner than ingested (or eaten) edibles.
  • What are the side effects of D-8?
The side effects of D-8 are similar to those from THC. They can include*: Dry mouth Dry eyes Anxiety when over-dosing - for this reason its important to start slow, especially for beginners Feeling groggy Intense body high Intense mind high (especially at higher doses) Inability to drive Delta-8 can make it difficult to drive due to the intense mind/body high that may result. That is why its never a good idea (nor is it legal) to drive while under the influence of delta-8, THC, alcohol or any other drug. **These statements have not been evaluated or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. • How much should I take?
For adults that weigh less than 130 lbs., 15 mg (or half a teaspoon of Sugar Buzz Sprinkles or half of one stinger) is a good starting point for a beginner. Factors such as weight, metabolism, and tolerance come into play when determining an appropriate dose. So this recommendation is just a guideline, and will take some experimentation to find your personal sweet spot. It’s best to start with a small dose and work up from there, and not the other way around. People who regularly use cannabinoids may have a higher tolerance and may get more benefit from a higher dose. As with all substances, if you are currently taking other medications you should always check with your doctor to prevent any possible negative interactions or side effects.
  • If I take D-8 will I fail a drug test?
Drug tests vary as to what compounds are being analyzed, so we are unable to make any claims or guarantees regarding use of our products and drug tests.
  • Can I mix Sugar Buzz Sprinkles into my raw cookie or cake batter?
As fun as that could be, we don’t recommend it. This is because exposing the delta-8 to high heat during baking, can effect its efficacy. You may have some better results by baking for longer at a lower temperature, but it can tricky to get just right. So if you’re baking, our sprinkles are best applied to finished baked goods, rather than baking them into batters and doughs.
  • Do you accept returns?
Unfortunately, we are not currently able to accept returns or issue refunds.
  • Why are your Stingers made from isomalt? And what the heck is isomalt?
Isomalt is a sugar substitute that is derived from beets. It’s commonly used in sugar- free candies. Isomalt has fewer carbs and will not raise blood sugar levels like cane sugar will. Isomalt is favored and used extensively by pastry chefs and sugar artists (and by us) because of its non-yellowing properties and ability to withstand humidity better than cane sugar. Another fun fact about isomalt, is that it is not easily digestible, so eating too much of it can lead to gastrointestinal upset. Therefore, it is additional incentive to not consume too many stingers at one time. The recommended daily intake of isomalt is no more than 20-30 grams per day - which is 4-6 stingers. For that reason, in addition to ingesting too much D-8, you REALLY don’t want to consume more than the recommended amount. (Trust us on this one....)
  • I'm trying to cut carbs. What are some ways I can still enjoy your products?
First of all, our stingers are naturally low in carbs. (See our FAQ about isomalt) Secondly, if you’re looking for some low-sugar ways to enjoy our sprinkles, consider enjoying them with yogurt, over fruit (maybe topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream), or on on a banana with a schmear of peanut butter.
